On the plastic parts (butt stock, handguards, pistol grip), I am using a special coating to get a n O.D. green finish. It is a spray-on moly/epoxy that is thermally activated - has to baked after applying. It goes really well with the mag-oxide metal finishing in terms of texture and flatness of color.

I have used your solution several times on batches of smaller parts and larger parts (receivers, barrels) with very good success. The finish has a real nice "satiny" feel, true flat-black appearance. Am very happy with the results. I have followed your instructions and indeed discovered that the trick is to get the parts truly clean and de-greased.
